"Enlisted in CSA 6 April 1861, Liberty, MS, under General Cairot (?) Posey. Sent directly to Columbus, KY, under Gen. Frank Cheaton Brigade. Severely wounded at Boeing Depot on 3 Feb 1864, while under command of Gen Wirt Adams. Mini-ball struck below my knee, from which I never recovered."
