Funeral services were held at the Providence Church, 708 South 9th Street in Mattoon, IL. Rev. Casey Reece officiated. The Edwards Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Wes was born on June 29, 1960, in Shelbyville, IL. He was a son to Marion Robert and Joline Jeanette (Orr) Chapman. He married Trish Slaughter on April 7, 1990, in Windsor, IL.
He is survived by his wife Trish; two sisters, Toni Jackson and her husband Jim of Neoga, IL and Marci Croy and her husband Don of Windsor, IL; brother-in-law, Nate Taylor and his wife Deanna of Golden, IL; sister-in-law, Kristin Shaughnessy of Springfield, IL; mother-in-law, Nancie Taylor and her husband Larry of Springfield, IL; father-in-law, Frank Slaughter of Sherman, IL; nieces and nephews, Doug Jackson and his wife Kristin of Neoga, IL, Wyatt Jackson of Neoga, IL, Melissa Croy of Guthrie, OK, Ashton Croy of Mattoon, IL and Gannon Croy and his fiancé Ryan of Windsor, IL, Makenna Taylor and Hunter Phillips both of Golden, IL; one great niece, Kendall Jackson and one great nephew, Lincoln Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Wes was a member and a Deacon of the Providence Church in Mattoon and he worked as a LPN at area nursing homes.
He was an avid Cardinal Fan and he enjoyed fishing.
