Watson-North Funeral Home is deeply honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Ms. Marilyn Mae Whitman. A native of Peoria, IL., she made her home in Franklin County since 2007 after having lived for a number of years in Texas. She was a graduate of Illinois State University and had worked in the software industry until her retirement in October 0f 2016. A lifelong sports enthusiast, she was very active in college sports and went on the become a "Hall of Famer" in softball. She also played and coached basketball. She was an avid birdwatcher and loved animals of all kinds, many of which she took into her home. Ms. Whitman is preceded in death by her mother, Mae Ryer Whitman and her father, Russell Whitman. She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her untimely passing, her life partner of 30 years, Donna Reed of Winchester; her brother, Richard (Patricia) Whitman, Sr. of Monmouth, IL; nephews, Richard Whitman, Jr. also of Monmouth, IL and Alex Whitman of Chicago, IL.
