Darren Thomas, 52, died June 23, 2013 in Temecula, Ca., of a heart attack while riding his bicycle.
Darren was born Oct. 17, 1960 and attended Hillcrest, South Jr. High & Borah High Schools in Boise, Graduating from Borah in 1979. he played football for Borah and De Pankratz during their glory years.
He graduated from the U of I in 1985 with a degree in social science.
He married Carolyn Ott in Riverside, Ca. on Aug. 19, 1989. They have three beautiful children, Crista, Matthew and Kyle.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, daughter Crista, and sons Matthew and Kyle, His mother, Dixie Thomas of Boise, two brothers, Bernie (Lesa) Thomas, Brent (Rhonda) Thomas, all of Boise, A sister, Merri (Craig) Gardunia of Huntsville, Al., Three nephews, Ryan Bailey, Chad Gardunia and Caden Gardunia, one Niece, Sarah Bailey, His mother in law and father in law, Dan and Jeaneen Ott of Riverside, CA., Brother in Law David Ott and sister in Law, Dana Bailey of Riverside, CA., Brothers in Law, Craig Gardunia, of Huntsville and Bob Bailey of Riverside, CA.
Darren taught for 27 years. The last 15 years he taught AP US History at Chaparral High School.
At the time of his death, he was Dept. Chair of Social Studies at Chaparral High School.
He was a truly great father, husband, son and brother. His students adored him.
A candle light vigil will take place at Chaparral Stadium, Thursday June 27th at 7 p.m. and a Memorial will be held in the
Chaparral Gym July 6th at 1:00 PM
He was preceded in death by his father, Lavern Thomas.
