Susan M. Farmer, 83, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:50 P.M., Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Susan had worked as a demonstrator and a part-time domestic worker for the rectory at her church. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality and had worked with the Girl Scouts. Susan was a PSR teacher at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tamaroa for several years. She enjoyed cleaning the church as well. She enjoyed embroidery and making Christmas decorations. Susan also enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking and family time. When she retired, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Texas to visit her family there.

She was born November 17, 1933 at Scheller, IL, the daughter of Paul and Augustyna (Drezewcki) Restoff.

She married Raymond O. Farmer on December 17, 1955 at East St. Louis, IL and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2007.

She is survived by three children - Michael Farmer and wife Kathy of Garland, TX, Rickey Joe Farmer of Tamaroa, and Regina Huite and husband Steve of Du Quoin, three grandchildren - Nancy and Bryan Kelley of Wylie, TX, Joseph and Shelley Farmer of Wylie, TX and Cathy and Christopher Estes of Weatherford, TX, six great grandchildren and a step grandson, all in Texas and one great grandchild on the way, two sisters - Agnes Cooney of St. Louis, MO and Dorothy Shelsted of Duluth, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, one sister, grandson, and granddaughter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin with Fr. Joseph Oganda officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Rosary will be prayed at 6:45 P.M., Wednesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
