Tony was born hard of hearing and attended The Iowa School of the Death in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He returned home by bus every month to be a part of his big family. Tony was quiet, solitary, and a bit naive and was watched over and protected by all of the members of his family. After graduating from high school Tony attended Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. for one year.
Tony was employed by the United States Post Office in Burnsville Minnesota for 17 years. Tony was a dedicated employee and had banked 1500 hours of sick leave when he retired after becoming ill.
After retiring Tony moved to Marion, Iowa and had his sister Becki to watch over him. On Apr. 22, 2017 Tony died in Marion.
Tony is survived by his brother Timothy, Exira, Iowa; and his sisters Rebecca Bergeson of Marion, IA, Anne Carlson and her husband, Dennis of Estherville, and Mary Hunt of Jackson, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Joseph Jude and David John.
A memorial service was held in Estherville, Iowa May 13, 2017 followed by interment of ashes in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
