MARY FRIELS GOODELL, 83, of Duncan, passed from this life Saturday, February 3, 2007, in Duncan.
Graveside service was held Feb. 5, in Loco Cemetery, with the Rev. Rusty Canoy officiating. Burial was in Loco Cemetery under direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Loco, to John Luther and Minnie Wisdom Friels. She attended Loco schools and graduated from high school there in 1941. She attended Cameron College before leaving Oklahoma to become employed by Mid-Continental Airlines and later Braniff Airways as a flight attendant. While living in the Dallas area, she was employed by Baylor's Tom Landry Health and Wellness Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Loco.
Mary enjoyed watching sporting events on television, especially football games, with her favorite being the Dallas Cowboys. Her favorite hobby was playing tennis and her tennis racquet was a prized possession. While residing in Wilkins Nursing Center, she looked forward to her weekly outing to Wal-Mart and a favorite restaurant.
Survivors include two sons, Monte E. Goodell Jr. of DeSoto, Texas, and Mark E. Goodell of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Jarrett, Shannon, Christopher, Sandra and Rachel; and a great-grandson, Ethan; a sister, Billie Neighbors of Comanche; nephews, David Friels of Arlington, Texas, Johnnie Friels of Walters, and Steve Etheridge of Duncan; nieces, Linda White, Mary Kay Lentz and Jan Laminack of Duncan, Betty Minton of Walters, Sara Davenport of Bixby, Suzanne Drover of Tulsa, and Tanna Peck and Sue Neighbors of Comanche.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Meredith Friels, Vernon Friels and Eulan "Buck" Friels; and a sister, Oleta Conover.
