Obituary:
Bruce Alan Bryant, age 67 of Lower Bank, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017 of complications of a brain aneurism and heart attack. A lifelong lover of the ocean, Bruce grew up in Long Beach Island, working as a commercial fisherman, after which he moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where he was known for his skills in welding and boat engine repair. Upon the passing of his mother in 2003, Bruce retired and returned to Long Beach Island.
Born December 22, 1949, Bruce grew up in New Jersey, the only son of Annabel Marie (Reynolds) Bryant of Lumberton, a 28 year Post Office clerk in Beach Haven (9/8/14 - 3/5/2003) and Herbert Harry Bryant (Pvt 120 Base Unit AAF, World War II - 4/30/16 - 12/14/54), a World War II Lumberton Fireman. Bruce served in the US Navy on the USS John Willis - DE1027 (ICFM: 1969 - 1971). Bruce was interred in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery, Lumberton, New Jersey, beside his mother and father.
Bruce leaves behind his only son, Bruce Herbert Bryant (born 9/23/1984, in Fort Myers, Florida), and his grand-daughter, Amelia Berry Bryant (born 6/17/13, in Denver, Colorado). Together with Amelia's mother, Ellen Elizabeth Berry (born 8/14/74, of Woodstock, Georgia), the family currently resides in Talking Rock, Georgia.
A graveside ceremony was held at the Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, March 25, 2017, with a celebration of life that followed at the Green Bank Fire Hall.
Funeral arrangements were handled by the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin.
