On September 27, 1941, he and Clara M. Saitz of Calumet, married in Chicago where they made their home. The following year, Russell enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After discharge in 1945, he returned to Chicago and enjoyed a successful career in the field of advertising and marketing. In 1976, Russell and Clara retied to Calumet, where Russell was a member of the VFW Post 3900 and the American Legion Post 0061.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, and sister, Evelyn Blue. Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
At Russell’s request, arrangements are private and the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family. Private burial was held on May 20, 2014 in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
