_______________

Dave Lister, 59, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 19th, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband and business partner of Cecile B. (Michaud) Lister, and the son of Thomas C. and Emiliana "Millie" (Camara) Lister.

Dave began his career as a self-employed ice cream truck operator in the 1970's in the New Bedford area. Through various partnerships, he moved on to other successful business endeavors. He owned and operated Dairy Maid Ice Cream beginning in the late 1970's. Then, he dabbled in food and paddleboat concessions at Buttonwood Park. His next endeavor was the beginning of the Quick Pic convenience stores where he also ran an ice cream depot that supplied product to local ice cream truck vendors. He ended his business career doing what he loved, as a partner in the ownership and operation of Cabral Lamoureux Funeral Home. His extraordinary business-sense recently led to the family operation of two successful Subway franchises.

He was a staple in the local community as a longstanding member of the Prince Henry Society, where he was chosen as Portuguese-American Man of the Year for 2004. Dave was integral in the orchestration of the Prince Henry Society's Christmas food baskets in New Bedford for many years. Other roots in the community included membership in the Club Madeirense S.S. Sacramento, where he proudly served on the Feast Committee, as well as the Lunch Bunch Investment Club.

Dave enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, as well as spending time with his grandchildren. He was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a third grandchild. He enjoyed his time with the "Lunch Bunch" as well, a close-knit group of local friends and businessmen.

Survivors include his wife of Dartmouth; his parents of New Bedford; a son Jeffrey Dave Lister and his wife Crystal of New Bedford; a daughter Amy Nichole Guile and her husband Jamie of Dartmouth; a brother Thomas Lister and his wife Susan of Swansea. Also survived by two grandsons, aunts and uncles, and nieces and nephews.

His funeral mass will be Tuesday, December 23rd, at 9:00 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant St, New Bedford. Relatives and friends are asked by the family to go directly to the church. Arrangements by the Cabral Baylies Square-Lamoreux Funeral Home, 512 Front Street, New Bedford. Internment at South Dartmouth Cemetery.
