Pacolet, SC - - Roger Eugene Tate, 71, of 1837 Asbury Road, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Madeline Webb Tate and son of the late William Boyd Tate and Beulah Harris Tate. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and employed by Timken for 22 years. He was a lifetime member of Trough Shoals Masonic Lodge, enjoyed fishing, hunting, painting and gardening. Mr. Tate was a member of Goucher Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School Teacher and RA Leader.
In addition to his wife, also surviving is a son, Jeff Tate and wife, Mandy of Gaffney; a daughter, Rhonda Tate Mills of Pacolet; two brothers, Harry Lee Tate of Greer and Joe Tate of OK; two sisters, Ailene Gallman and Wilma Peeler, both of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Shane Mills, Jared Mills and Anna Tate; sister-in-law, Carolyn Tate of Gaffney; and a special friend, Ned Lemons and wife, Rachel of Pacolet. Mr. Tate was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Tate, Jimmy Tate and Pittman Tate.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Goucher Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 PM at the church with Reverend Tom Moore and Reverend Ray Long officiating. Interment will be in Goucher Baptist Church Cemetery.
