Born December 6, 1926 in Petersville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Everhart) Young.
Alma was active in the Jefferson community and her church. She was a Sunday school teacher, church secretary and member of the Altar Guild. She was a member of the Jefferson Grange, Ruritan and fire company auxiliary. She enjoyed canning, reading and spending time with her family. Alma also enjoyed riding horses in her younger years.
She is survived by son, Ronald Whipp and wife, Lori; daughter-in-law, Linda Whipp; five grandchildren, Robby Whipp (Tracey), BlaineWhipp (Jenny Ross), Chad Whipp (Carrie), Lesley Whipp-Little (Douglas) and Ryan Whipp (Kelly); eight great-grandchildren, Sydney, Bobby, Cole, Kane, Bristol, Kage, Cassie, and Jesse Whipp; numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
She was predeceased by husband, parents, and son, Robert Y. Whipp; sister, Isabelle Adams and brother-in-law, LeRoy Adams.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1100 N. Maple Ave, Brunswick. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 11 from the Jefferson United Church of Christ, 3837 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson. Officiating will be Pastor Chad Weddle.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Robby, Blaine, Chad, and Ryan Whipp; grandson-in-law, Doug Little; and nephew, Jimmy Lakin.
