Theodore R. Oldham was born in 1833, in Alabama to Peter Oldham and Elizabeth Rowden. He married Elizabeth Hollingsworth on September 16, 1856, in Anderson County, Texas. To this union were born two daughters, Lucy and Permela, and two sons, Sam and Theodore, Jr. Theodore, Jr. was born four months after the death of Theodore, Sr.

Theodore was recruited into Captain Gaston's Co. H, 1st Texas Infantry on March 20, 1862, in Kickapoo, Anderson County, Texas, on the same day as his brother-in-law, William Hollingsworth. This was part of HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE. He died in the 2nd Battle of Bull Run. It is said that he and L.M. Steinspher, both privates, were killed during the day of the 29th while lying down at their place in ranks in front of the enemy by a discharge of grape-shot which remained in the tin case unexploded.

I am not certain where Theodore is buried but I felt the need to establish a memorial for him here since this is where he fought and died.
