"Alexander enlisted in the Civil War in April 1861 with Co "D" 55th Reg't Penna. Vol, On May 16, 1864, at the desperate encounter of Drury's Bluff, a few miles south of Richmond, Virginia, Sergt. Boor was taken prisoner and a short time afterwards was removed to the Andersonville prison, where he remained in confinement almost a year until the close of the war. He was cited as one of the best soldiers in the service." comment of an unidentified contributor to the Beegle Family History.
