Joe G. López, age 74, was called to rest on June 29, 2016.
Originally from Contreras, NM, he was the second of five children of Dometelia Gonzáles López and José Griego López.
Joe was several years old when his parents started their endeavor of moving their family to Califonia. Joe was about 14 years old when the family finally settled in Sacramento, California after many adventures and challenges. In Sacramento, he attended C.K. McClatchy High School. As a young man, he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked many years as a taxi driver among other occupations.
Joe enjoyed living many years in the Alexandria Hotel in Los Angeles. In the past, it was a luxury hotel and was later converted to apartments.
Joe was raised in the Catholic religion and he recommended the philosophy of Vernon Howard, who was an advocate of self-honesty, persistence, and the study and application of spiritual principles as a way of life.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe is survived by his brothers and sisters, Tim López, Louis López, Lucy López and Mary Carew, also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
A graveside service will be held on May 12, 2017, at the Contreras Cemetery beginning at 10:00 a.m.
