BUCHANAN - Max W. Carter, 66, of Buchanan, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Swem Chapel and Cremation Services, Buchanan with Pastor Jonathan Liebich officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date with full military honors, rendered by the Buchanan American Legion Post 51 and the United States Army. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of Glendora. Max was born on February 6, 1951 to the late Lonnie Carter and Maxine Weaver in Logansport, IN. On May 30, 1987 he married Sandra Sinner at Trinity Lutheran Church of Glendora. Max was a United States Army veteran who served his country faithfully. He served two years in Vietnam. Max was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of Glendora and the Buchanan American Legion Post 51. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman. Most of all, Max enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Max is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughters, Jessica Hearington and Teresa (Guy) Simon both of Buchanan; grandchildren, Jacob Hearington, Kade Hearington, Dakota Benson, Hayley Carter, Vera Ludwig and Max Simon; brothers, Bill (Jane) Harman, Leroy “Lew” (Nancy) Harman and Jim (Mary Ann) Mason and sister, Sue Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joel.
