General Sir Thomas Edward Gordon, KCB, DCIE, CSI. Son of Captain William Gordon, 2nd Queen's Regiment, and his wife, Marianna Carlotta (de Mello) Gordon. He is the twin brother of General Sir John James Hood Gordon. The brothers entered the army the same day, promoted to General the same day and were called the "Gemini Generals". He was married twice, firstly to Mary Helen Sawyer (1862) in India. They had five children. She died in India in 1879. After returning to England he married Charlotte Davison in 1894. They had one daughter that died in infancy.
