Harris Lee Cook 1984 Bridgewater Bulletin

Relatives and friends were saddened by the death of Harris Lee Cook at Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, on Tuesday, December 4, 1984. He was 80 years of age. Born in New Canada, on August 8, 1904, he was the son of the late Samuel and Annie (Conrad) Cook.

He was a deacon of the New Canada United Baptist Church and became an honourary deacon for a number of years. He was a farmer most of his life and worked for Hofert Christmas Tree Company. He was predeceased by his wife, Leota Mae Cook; three sisters and an infant brother.

He is survived by one brother, Fred Cook, Maynard, Massachusetts; four foster children, Carroll Dorey, at home; Donald Jennings, Five Island Lake, Halifax County; Marian Ewer, Windsor Junction; and Sandra Dominey, New Canada; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The funeral service was held Thursday, December 6, 1984, 2 p.m., from the New Canada United Baptist Church, with Pastor Wayne Mitton officiating. Rev. David Irvine, Pleasantville, assisted with the service. Members of the New Canada and Pinehurst choirs were in attendance with Lester Semon, organist. Favourite hymns sung were "Near to The Heart of God" and "He Touched Me." Interment was in the family plot, Lakeside Cemetery, New Canada.
