Ruby Mae Knight, 84, of Mutton Hollow, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2017. She was born on April 21, 1933, in Greene County to the late Jake and Addie Deane.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jessie Knight; and two children, Winston and Velma Knight.

She is survived by her son, Samuel Knight; her daughter, Thelma Knight; her grandchildren, Jessica Knight, Dionne Knight Conti, Tina Gaden, Sherry Knight, Ashley Gaines, Jayson Knight, Christopher Knight, and Shawn Knight; her great grandchildren, Brian Burkholder, Cayla Knight, Hanna Gaden, Abagail Gaden, Sidney Prickett, and Arawyn Knight; her great-great grandchild, Bradley Burkholder; two brothers, Sherman and Lloyd Deane; her dear friends, Leanna and Merv Glick; and her sweet dog, Penny.

Mrs. Knight was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to her family and church. She touched the hearts of all she encountered and was affectionately known as Granny. She loved her Pepsi, coffee, all animals and children. Her loving nature of always thinking of others first was with her until the end, along with her deeply devoted faith in the Lord.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Mount Hermon Mennonite Church congregation of which she was a member. The family would like to also thank the nursing staff and physicians at Martha Jefferson Hospital for all your loving care and support.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Mount Hermon Mennonite Church. Interment will follow in the Mount Hermon Church Cemetery. An online guestbook is available at www.ryanfuneral.com Ryan Funeral Home of Ruckersville, Va. is handling the arrangements.
