He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and his childhood and teenage years were spent in Coconut Grove, Florida. After relocating to Houston in the early 1960's, he held a variety of jobs, including being a salesman with M&M Lighting Company. He later decided to start his own business, which evolved into Old Galveston Fan Company & Custom Blind Shop, with outlets throughout Texas. In addition to his love of good food, professional football and classical music, he was known for his decades long patronage of The Stables Restaurant on Westheimer Road and it's last location on South Main Street. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Anna M. Hayden, and his partner, Edward Araiza, Jr. He is survived by a brother, a niece and numerous friends who cherish his memory.
