He was the first born of Anabell West Banks and Lansdell Banks, Sr. He was a native of Burke county and a longtime resident of Savannah and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He worked for the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad for most of his life and retired in 1987 after 39 years of employment. He was a past local chairman of United Transportation Union. He died from pneumonia resulting from Supra Nuclear Gauge Palsy. He was married to Wynell Turner Banks and had three children (Janice, Beverly, & Craig). He loved to fish and hunt and enjoyed gardening in his backyard.
