We said farewell to Conrad Alfred Archambeault on April 27, 2017 following age related decline in his St. Louis hospice at home room surrounded by love and care. He was well into his 92nd year.

Conrad is survived by three grateful sons: David & Karlene (Connecticut), Paul & Kathy (St. Louis), and their combined 6 grandchildren, 9 great & 1 great great grandchildren. Jeff & +Joan (Ontario) + She passed Feb 3, 2017 and joins those predeceased and ready to greet Conrad: Marcia J. Barbour, his wife until Aug 9, 2013, His parents Alfred & Irene Paquin Archambeault, All six brothers: Gerald (Rosemarie), Maurice (Bessie), Laurier (Teresa), Roger (Dorothy), Florian (7 years), Raymond (16 months).

Born in Aylmer, Quebec, August 9, 1924, Conrad, the sole survivor of the Archambeault family which had moved from their dad’s bakery in Canada to their Liberty Avenue home for work at Alcoa, graduated from Massena high school, served in the U.S. Army as Sergeant (1943-46), worked at Clark’s Hardware, Cornell Laundry, White’s Dairy, and then for 37 years at Alcoa becoming an advanced planner until retirement,1986.

Conrad & Marcia married July 12, 1947, brought forth three sons at their first home on Washington Street, then moved (1957) into the house he built in Louisville, before returning to Massena establishing their Allen Street home (1961). Once both retired, they tried St. Louis, MO. (1990) but it was too early for them, so returned to live on Nightengale Avenue (1992). As aging set in, they returned to St. Louis (2007) to be close to part of their family to share their final years.

Conrad was a charter member of Louisville Fire Department and its satellite pumper station; a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus; a lifelong sports enthusiast excelling and lettered in 4 sports (hockey, baseball, football, 1 year basketball) in his youth, while exhibiting good sportsmanship. This led to Induction into the Massena Hall of Fame (1991). He helped start NNY referee association, refereed and coached to support young players, and supported retired colleagues by co-founding Massena Skating Club. In later life he enjoyed grand and great grandkids sports events, TV sports watching, and attended a few live professional games in St. Louis venues.

Conrad’s sports notoriety was shared at times with his brothers in Southeast Ontario, Northern NYS, military, and Massena leagues & teams. His mom’s scrapbooks, continued by Marcia, feature clippings of events and scorecards. Sports was family DNA with Conrad on a Yankee farm league, Laurier with Baltimore Orioles, their dad Alfred a Habs farm team player, and declines of major league and farm team offers. Conrad’s ashes will be present at a Mass of Christian Burial, St. John’s Catholic Church, Imperial, MO and interred with Marcia’s in St. John’s cemetery www.stjohnimperial.org .

Suggested donations are to Knights of Columbus charities, youth sports, to a church of your choice, with Mass intentions perhaps to St. Mary’s, Massena, or St. Lawrence Church, Louisville.

The Heavenly Coach called Conrad to lace up for the Ultimate League to play in one of the “many rooms” -the Sports Room- “prepared” for him. A good man: he lived well, played fair, faithful to the end.
