Joann Elizabeth Fleming, age 58, of Cross Lanes, West Virginia passed away after a long and brave battle with cancer on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Hubbard House in Charleston.

Joann was a 1976 graduate of Spencer High School and went on to receive her bachelors degree from WVU Tech. She was a dedicated employee of the state for 35 years and played a vital role in WV disaster preparedness and behavioral health during her career. When tragedy hit, such has Hurricane Katrina and the 2012 derecho, she poured her heart and soul into helping victims both mentally and physically. "Mama Jo" was known for her bright smile, positive attitude, and warm heart.

Joann was preceded in death by her father, Oris Wright Jr. She is survived by her mother, Joann "Ruth" Wright, her brothers Jim Wright, Larry Wright and Roger Wright, her husband, Sean Fleming, and her daughters, Amy Jo Tomblin and Sara Beth Rowe, sons-in-law, Christopher Tomblin and Wyatt Rowe as well as her cherished "grandbabies", Blaize Tomblin and Jace Tomblin.

Celebration of Joann's life will be held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Clendenin Church of the Nazarene, 103 Elk River Rd., Clendenin, WV 25045.
