Howard (Joe) Matteola, 68, husband of Dottie (Bell) Matteola, died Thursday at home. He was a retired Valet for Churchill Downs and Keenleand. He was born July 12, 1915 in Covington, son of the late Joseph P. and Christine E. Fisher Matteola. Other survivors are a daughter, Dana M Bayless, Naples, FL. ; brother, Wallace A. Matteola, Lexingto; grandson, Howard Neild Bayless; an aunt, Gladys Brazier, Covington; nephew, Kent A. Matteola, Lexington; two great-nephews. Funeral mass 10:00 a.m. Monday at MAry Queen of Holy Rosary Catholic Church Father Edward Murray. Burial Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be June White, Joe Broadus, Verdi Wells, Kent Matteola, Tom Weathers, Kenneth Garis. Honorary bearers will be Phillip Broadus and Boo Powell.
