Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Avera, for Mr. Mark Chase Thornton, age 28, of Stateline, MS who died May 3, 2017 at Forrest General Hospital. Bro. Joe Watson will officiate with burial to follow in the Canaan Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Martin Herring, Mark Holder, Joe Errington, Joshua Box, Josh Carnahan, Nick McCardle, Jacan Warren, and Dustin Byrd.
Mr. Thornton was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church at Avera, Sand Hill Lodge #441, and The Sons of The Confederacy. He loved to volunteer as a youth football coach. He had a love for Notre Dame Football and turkey hunting. He was a true lover of all things southern. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kermit Joe Thornton and Michael D. Dietz.
