Mark Larimore Holt, age 70, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4th.

Mr. Holt was born April 13, 1947 in Abilene, Texas, the son of Jack Larimore Holt and the late Kathleen Werst Holt.

He attended the University of North Texas where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in English and History. He was a direct descendant of Lt. John Tarrant of Virginia, who fought for the cause of American Independence in the Revolutionary War. He was also a direct descendant of Hans Michael Holt who emigrated from Germany in 1717 and who was a founder of Hebron Lutheran Church in Madison, Virginia, the oldest continuously operating Lutheran Church in the country. Being the son of a WWII veteran of the US Navy, he was active in the American Legion Post 145. He had been an educator in the Douglas County School System, owned and operated the Woodlands Market in Texas and was an executive with Fleming Foods.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Elizabeth Dianne Holt, nee Reno, a daughter, Alicia Elizabeth Mills (Dave), of Bremen, Georgia, his father Jack Larimore Holt, of Lindale, Texas, a brother, Stephen Wesley Holt (Sharon), of Kimberton, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren and extended family.

The Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 9th at 11 a.m. at J. Collins Funeral Home 206 South Carroll Road, Villa Rica, Georgia.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the caring staff of Halcyon Hospice and Southern Living Caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that family and friends consider a donation to the American Legion Post 145, 6449 Veterans Memorial Highway, Douglasville, GA 30134.
