God called home one of his most faithful servants,Elizabeth Sue "Betty" Page Saunders, of Troutville, on Friday, February 9, 2007. Born in Roanoke, Betty graduated from Jefferson High School and lived in the area all of her life. Hers was a life spent in intercessory prayer and loving, selfless service to others. She was a great lover of flowers and an active member of several prayer groups. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Bower. Betty is survived by Ralph W. (Bill) Saunders, her husband of 39 years; brother, Timothy G. Page of Richmond; her sons, Lt. Col. Adam Dickerson and his wife, Frosie, of Travis Air Force Base, Calif. and Scott Saunders of Troutville; two granddaughters, Sarah and Katherine Dickerson; sisters-in-law, Judy Weeks and Anita Hurley; brothers-in-law, Morris Saunders and his wife, Ina, Jerry T. Saunders, and Kenneth and Roseanne Saunders; a special stepsister, Carol Killenger and her husband, Bob; a special cousin, Debbie Dowless; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a beloved pet dog, Sugar Bear. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Betty's best friends, Kay Riner and Barbara Black officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 982-2221.
