Blythe, GA – Annie Louise Greiner Hayes, 89, loving wife of 71 years to Vester Hampton Hayes, entered into her eternal rest Thursday morning, May 4, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at the Wrens Church of God at 3:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon, May 7, 2017. Interment will follow in Blythe Cemetery.
The eldest of three children born to the late Olive Lee Gunn Greiner and the late Fred Richard Greiner, Annie has lived all of her life in the Keysville-Blythe area and was a graduate of Wrens High School. She worked in the area garment companies in Waynesboro and Louisville but after marrying the love of her life at the age of 18, her priority was to make sure her family had a comfortable, loving home. Until her health decline, Annie enjoyed working in the yards. She also enjoyed reading, mostly fiction, with the exception of the Bible which she read and studied daily. Being a child of God, she actively and faithfully served Him as a member of the Wrens Church of God. Her quiet demeanor housed a woman who enjoyed being with people, especially her family and church family. She dearly loved the Arrington sisters and appreciated their faithful friendship over the years and always looked forward to their visits. She always had a twinkle in her eye, a quick, radiant smile and loving words of encouragement for everyone. Her greatest joy and pleasure was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren—she had a strong bond and an unconditional love for each one of them. An obedient servant of God, loving wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother, and loyal friend, Annie’s death leaves a void no one can fill, but her love leaves us memories that no one can steal.
Heartfelt thanks and appreciation is extended to Sonia Cook for her loving , compassionate care.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Wrens Church of God Cemetery Fund, 102 Phillips St, Wrens, GA 30833.
The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Saturday evening, May 6, 2017.
