Mary Rebecca “Becky” Toone, age 60, of Independence, passed away April 29, 2017, at her home after a lifelong battle with diabetes.
She was born on September 13, 1956, in Vernal, to Lloyd Dwight and Wealthy Geralee “Jerry” Cloward Dow. She married Jerry Runnels and they later divorced. She married Grant Wilford Toone on January 30, 1993 and they were sealed on October 20, 2009, in the Vernal LDS Temple. He died January 3, 2010.
Becky worked at Sprouse Insurance Agency before getting her agents license and opening Advanced Insurance Agency, which she owned and operated for over 15 years. She loved her clients and people she worked with and they loved her. She was very friendly and always willing to help anyone with their problems – befriending them and then taking them into her heart. She enjoyed camping, going to the mountains, and doing crafts. She was in poor health and pain for most of her life, but she didn’t let it hold her back. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony, especially of the Priesthood and the blessings she’d receive because of it.
Becky is survived by her children, Jon (Michele) Runnels, Vernal; Jason (Jody) Runnels, Independence; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters, Christy Leavitt, Vernal; Renae (Brent) Anderson, Ephraim; step-brothers, Sam (Maxine) Brough, Talmage; Jim Brough, and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant; her infant daughter, Nina Marie; her parents, Lloyd and Geri; a brother, Dean Dow; and a step-sister, Lynette Brough.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ballard LDS Church. There will be a visitation on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary and from 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
