Gladys E. Rodriguez, age 73, passed away on April 13, 2017 at Salem Hospital. Daughter of the late Santiago Carrion and Mercedes Batista (Sanchez) Carrion, and widow of the late Jorge Luis Rodriguez, Gladys was born, raised and educated in Manati, Puerto Rico.

In 1965, she moved to Beverly, MA where she met her future husband. Gladys and her husband moved to Salem, where they both worked, and raised their family. She worked at Duchess Shoe before working at Harbor Sweets where she enjoyed a 30 year career.

Gladys was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was a fabulous cook who was known for her famous Pasteles.

Gladys is survived by her daughter Milagros Julien and her husband Jean Paul of Danvers, her daughter Sylvia Iris Rodriguez of Miami, FL, her son Jorge Rodriguez and his wife Claudia of Lynn, her son Luis Rodriguez and his wife Sophea of Revere, her son Peter Rodriguez and his wife Auri of Lynn, her grandchildren Angel, Eliana, Yanelly, Briana, Michaela, Korelys, Isaac, Benjamin, Lunah, Javier, Moses and her great grandchild, Joell.

Visiting hours for Gladys will take place Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4-8PM at the Murphy Funeral Home, 85 Federal St.(corner of North St.), Salem, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday at 10AM at the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne BLVD, Salem, MA. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery, 57 Orne St., Salem, MA.
