Martha G. "Mart" Bierma, age 93, of Wheatfield, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 with her loving family around her at Porter Regional Hospital of Valparaiso.
Martha was born October 15, 1923, in DeMotte, Indiana. She was the daughter of Harm and Minnie (Belstra) Pruis. On April 12, 1946, in DeMotte, Martha married the love of her life, Edwin Bierma. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1995. Martha graduated from DeMotte High School, Class of 1942. She was the secretary and co-owner of Bierma Implement Company and full time homemaker. Martha was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of DeMotte. She enjoyed her flowers and wild birds, especially her wrens.
Martha is survived by her children: Bruce (Sandy) Bierma of Broken Arrow, OK; Edna (Harry) Wheeler of Morris, IL; Marcia Mathew of Rensselaer, IN; Betty Bierma of Wheatfield, IN; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; brother: John (Mary) Pruis of Nixa, MO; one brother-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; several nieces & nephews.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 49 years, 1-sister Gertrude, son-in-law Jack Mathew, and 2 great grandchildren.
