Ethel Mae Martin passed into eternity at home in Stratton, Colorado, Monday, April 24, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. She was born December 12, 1947, in Dodge City, Kansas to William and Eileen (Simerl) Cure.
Ethel grew up in Stratton, and had seven brothers and one sister. She graduated from Stratton High School in 1965 and attended Northwest Kansas Vocational Technical School in Goodland, Kansas.
She married Jerry Lewis Martin on October 8, 1966 in Stratton.
To this union were born five children: Rodney Louis, Paul Denis, Patrick Lee, Debra Darlene and Sherry LeAnn.
While raising her family, Ethel was active in 4-H and St. Charles Catholic Church.
She was a kind, caring woman who loved her family, spending time with her children and their families. She will be missed.
After raising her family, Ethel went back to work, finding her niche as manager of McDonald's in Burlington.
She recently retired after more than 21 years at this location.
Ethel leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Jerry, of the home; three sons: Rodney (Cheryl)of Greeley; Paul (Jolene) of Cheyenne Wells; and Patrick (Jennifer) of Levant, Kansas; two daughters: Debra (Robert) Homm of Stratton and Sherry (Jeremy) Rosentreader of Litchfield, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren: Brian (Angela), Grant (Carlyn), Cassondra, Alex, Kea, Todd, Lance, Kade, Cody, Jack, Kaleb, and Kaylee and 4 great-grandchildren: Jacquelyn, Savannah, Trace and Blake.
Also surviving are five brothers: Charles (Karen), Robert (Dee), Denis (Vickie), David (Debbie) and Ron (Lisa); one sister Elizabeth Riley; sister-in-law Darlene (Robert) and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kevin and Terrance and her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial for Ethel was held on Friday, April 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Stratton with Father Carlos Gallardo officiating.
Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Stratton.
