Barbara Helen (Frame) Allen, 90, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 in Tomball, Texas. She was born on January 17, 1927 to Harry and Agnes (Knauber) Frame in Richmond, Indiana. Barbara is preceded is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Teresa Allen; son, Mark Vincent Allen; and sister, Sister Joan Frame.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Robert Earl Allen; daughter, Kathryn Whitfield and husband Harry; sons, Richard Allen and Thomas Allen and wife Connie; 8 grandchildren, Dana, Matthew, Rachel, Adrienne, Brian, Norm, Lauren, and Emily; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous more relatives and friends.
Barbara began her working career at Charles Elementary school, 1968, in Richmond and attempted to retire in 1994 working in the Administrative Office with Dana Mollenkopf and the special education department. Retirement did not last long as she continued her career at Crestdale special services which eventually moved to the Early Learning Center which she finally left in 2009. Barbara was a member of the St. Mary Guild and Psi Iota Xi sorority of Indiana. Barbara loved to play golf and had a “Lunch Bunch” group of close friends from Glen Hills for over 20 years. Barbara also loved to play cards and was known for her beautiful calligraphy skills. Her devotion to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her top priority and love of her life.
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M. Friday May 5, 2017 at St. Mary’s Church with Rev. Kevin Morris officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
