HOLT - Denis E. ""Blind Baby"" Canida, age 63, of Holt, was called home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2017. Visitation will be today, May 2, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with services May 3, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Helen Canida; sister, Wanda Canida; and brother, James Canida.
He is survived by his loving sister, Brenda Stephens; daughters, Rachel Canida Dunn (Tim) and Ginger Canida Walker (Bobby); grandsons Trey Browning, Skylar Canida and Mathew Dunn; granddaughters, Kayla Downing and Tiffany Bell; great-grandsons, Josh Browning and Gavin Downing; girlfriend, Terri Hallman; his little Hali Moon; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Blind Baby was a loving father, brother and friend. He treated everyone like family. He had a passion for music and taught his grandchildren that ""When words fail, music speaks."" You could always find him near a guitar.
He loved life and lived his life to the fullest and on his own terms. He loved fishing, painting and spending quality time with his friends and family. His laughter was contagious and his heart was big. He will be missed beyond words.
Pallbearers will be Mark ""Duck"" Stephens, Jerry Browning, Bobby Walker, Trey Browning, Skylar Canida and Jerry Plowman.
Honorary pallbearers are Lynn Downing, Danny Mullenix, Gayla Mayhall, Danny Garner, Comfort Care Hospice, Dr. James Wilhite and friends and neighbors of Holt, Cottondale and Vance Communities.
