VIRGINIA BEACH - Billy Dyer Weldon, of 517 King's Grant Road, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2001 in Sentara Leigh Hsopital.

Born in Streetman Texas, he was the son of the late Violet McIver and Millard Dyer Weldon. He attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas and received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas in Austin. He accepted a position as a field representative with Hughes Aircraft Company which brought him to Virginia. He served as the technical director of the Naval Sea Combat Systems Engineering Station in Norfolk. He was a dedicated professional who received many awards, including an award for superior Civilian Service from the Secretary of the Navy. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Moore Weldon, one daughter, Laurie Weldon Dreelin and her husband, Patrick Alexander Dreelin; two grandchildren, Patrick Alexander II and Adam Weldon Dreelin, all of Virginia Beach; and a host of family in Texas and Virginia.

A funeral will be held in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, on Thursday, March 15th at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Chuck Weist[Wiest]. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Wednesday evening form 6 until 8 p.m. The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to Heritage United Methodist Church, 715 Baker Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
