She was born in Harnett County, NC on September 18, 1928 to the late Thomas Hinson Cummings and Zula Inez Thomas Cummings. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Wilton Wayne Giles, Sr.; son Michael Wayne Giles; grandson Anthony Wayne Giles, Sr.; brother George Caviness Cummings and sisters Marion Marcell Lanier and Mildred Eugenia Matthews.
Helen attended Raven Rock Presbyterian Church as a child and was a member in later years at Neills Creek Baptist Church. She worked many years for Cornell Dubilier and Coty.
She is survived by son Wilton Wayne Giles, Jr. and wife Cathy; daughter Karen Giles Brown all of Sanford; sisters Vivian Simpson of Sanford, Geneva Larsen and husband Horst of Pinehurst; grandchildren Johnny Wayne Giles, Heather Yarborough, Philip Giles, Jordanna Grimmette; great-grandchildren Deven Giles, Ashley Silman, Anthony Wayne “AJ” Giles, Jr., Seth Giles, Braxton Melvin; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington with Rev. Edward Taylor officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
