Services for Lillie Mae (Shelton) Bailey, 94, are scheduled for Monday, May 8, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Mobeetie TX, with Pastors Don McElroy and Rick Timmons, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mobeetie Cemetery under the direction of Peppers Family Funeral Home of Wheeler, TX.
Mae passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2017 in Amarillo, TX.
Lillie Mae (Shelton) Bailey was born on June 12, 1922 in Prairie Grove, AR, to the late Mr. Henry Shelton and Beulah (Morton) Shelton. She was a 1940 graduate of Mobeetie High School. Mrs. Bailey married Hugh Bailey on August, 1993 at Mobeetie, TX.
She resided in Mobeetie, TX and worked as a jailer and dispatcher for Hemphill County Sheriff’s Office. Mae was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Mobeetie, TX.
Mae will rejoice in meeting her granddaughter, Amy Allen, who was born 4/28/1975 and passed on 4/28/2017, at the gates of Heaven.
Survivors include her husband, Hugh Bailey, of Mobeetie, TX; one son, Ray Allen and wife Terry Jean, of Alpine, TX; three daughters, Frances Collins and husband John, of Lake Isabella, CA, Lois Hughes and husband Glenn, of Fritch, TX, Donna Kay Dickey and husband Richard, of Allison, TX; nineteen grandchildren, Sherri Hanning, of Lake Isabella, CA, Wade Childress, of Marbella, Spain, Michael Collins, of Los Angeles, CA, Jack Collins, of Lake Isabella, CA, Michael Hughes, of Fritch, TX, Jenie Gannaway, of Fritch, TX, Lucy Clark, of Fritch, TX, Gary Hughes, of Fritch, TX, Robert Hughes, of Fritch, TX, Mindy Wiggins, of Big Springs, TX, Nancy Belcher, of Sterling, TX, Katie Allen-Mathews, of Alpine, TX, James Williams, of Canadian, TX, Geoff Dickey, of White Deere, TX, Garrett Dickey, of Stephenville, TX, Greg Dickey, of Dumas, TX, John Williams, of Lefors, TX, Jean LaDonna Hardegee, of Amarillo, TX, Allison Dickey, of Allison, TX; 44 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Shelton; one sister Jaunell Eberting; and many, many others she loved and claimed as her own.
Family will receive friends for formal visitation on Thursday May 4, 2017 from 2:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home.
