Billy David Ellis, 69, of Mt. Vernon, passed away October 1, 2022, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was born December 30, 1952, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Ferral W. and Evelyn Juanita (Carter) Ellis. He attended Zion United Methodist Church, and enjoyed spending time at Comprehensive Services. He loved the porch swing, and rocking chairs. Mr. Ellis is survived by three sisters, Lula Mae Morris of Mt. Vernon, Lois Fay Tate and husband David of Mt. Vernon, and Dorothy Lomax of Mt. Vernon; nieces and nephews, Pam Hammond, Bryan Ellis, David Morris and wife Debra, Connie Knowles and husband Terry, Crysti Blacklock and husband Rob, Allen Tate and wife Michelle, Joanie Cooper and husband Alan, Stephanie Tate, and Kenneth Pennington; and close friend, Bert Austin, who always inquired about him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferral and Evelyn Ellis; brother, Leon Ellis; nephew, Tony Ellis; and nephew-in-law, Steve Blankenship. Funeral services for Mr. Ellis will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Zion United Methodist Church, with Rev. Elton Storey officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery.
