Date and place of death according to District of Columbia, Select Deaths and Burials Index, 1769-1960 and New York, Death Index, 1852-1956. Birth year shows up as about 1835 in Census records and 1837 in D.C. death record. His 1918 will names his wife as Cecilia K. Staples and his daughter as Cecilia Amanda Staples. It also spells his name as Orren, although it's Orrin or "O.G." on other records. He married Cecilia Kinnear on 27 July 1913 in Alexandria Bay, St. Lawrence County, New York, according to records on Ancestry that show his parents as Nathan Staples and Amanda Curtis. Cecilia later married John George MacCormack and they show up in the 1930 and 1940 censuses in New York.

Earlier Census records show a wife named Helen. The 1880 federal Census shows a wife and daughter named "Nellie." Helen M. Staples' will, probated in 1902, names Orren as her husband.
