John L. Newland III, 28, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008, at 11:13 a.m. in Miami Valley Hospital as the result of an automobile accident. He was born September 13, 1979, in Columbus, Ohio. John had a love for dirt track racing, working and learning as much as he could about cars, NASCAR racing Kevin Harvick #29 and St. Louis Cardinals. His love and care for boxer dogs and others will be greatly missed. Survivors include his mother, Lisa (Mitchell) Newland; and companion, Sherri (Sprout) Snyder; father and step-mother, John L. (Judy) Newland Jr.; sister, Nicole; brother, Abrian Newland and his fiance, Samantha Ferguson; loving grandparents, John L. and Starline Newland; and his loving companion of ten years, Becky Suttles and her children, Jereme and Britany of Springfield; several aunts, uncles and cousins; one very special friend and nurse practitioner, Libby Sparks, formerly of O.S.U Ross Heart Hospital. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Norma Jean Mitchell. Graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008, in Obetz Cemetery , Obetz, Ohio. A celebration of John's life will follow at his father's farm.
