Cynthia Jennett (Hitchcock) McCutcheon was the daughter of Margaret Ann (Nicol) Hitchcock Kesler and George Bissel Hitchcock 24 yrs. (1831-1855) . Her parents originally lived in Hammond, St. Lawrence County, NY . Cynthia had one brother, James Elias Hitchcock (1 1/2 mo.) b. January 29, 1853, d. April 03, 1853, waters of Lake Erie.

How painful life was at that time for her mother, Margaret Ann.'s young husband and baby son died so early in life. But Margaret Ann never lost her faith in the Lord and she left Mitchell county, Iowa with baby Cynthia and headed to West Virginia perhaps along with an older sister, Elizabeth Nancy (Nicol) Nichols and brother in law, William Revillo Nichols as they also settled in Fayette County, West Virginia about that time.

On Nov. 24, 1857 widower/mother Margaret Ann, married John Kesler, son of Jacob Kesler and Elizabeth Funk, pioneers of West Virginia. Together they helped found the Presbyterian Church in Clifty, West Virginia and are both buried at the Kesler Memorial Cemetery next to the Presbyterian Church.

The Lord blessed the their family with six children, all half siblings to Cynthia Jennett McCutcheon, who lived with her mother and step father until her marriage .

On Nov. 30, 1876 in Mountain Cove, Fayette, WV, Cynthia Jennett (24) married Joseph Jasper McCutcheon (24), son of Martha Ann Caldwell (1830-1869) and Andrew K. McCutcheon (1826-1897 ) of Fayette County, West Virginia.

Joseph "Joe" was born Jan. 22, 1852 in Virginia. He died at the age of 75 on May 19, 1927 in Beckley, Raleigh Co, WV. At present, it is unknown if they had any children. Joe was the oldest of six children.
