TONY GENE THOMAS Haysi, VA - Mr. Tony Gene Thomas went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 28, 2011. Born July 9, 1952, he was a son of the late Japtha and Dorthula Thomas and a lifelong resident of Dickenson County. He was of the Freewill Baptist Faith.
Tony leaves behind a loving wife of 34 years, Edith Thomas; two sons, Timothy Gene Thomas and wife Amanda of Haysi, VA and Gary Fuller of KY and a daughter, Jennifer Thomas Barton and the late Wesley Barton of Council, VA; three grandchildren, Roger and Jeniann Barton and Hailey Thomas; five sisters, Evelyne (Eugene) Mullins and Katy (the late Jack) Blevins both of Bristol, VA, Theda (Walter) Clay of Richmond, VA, Lucille (Jim) Hopkins and Juanita (Jim) Hicks of Piney Flats, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Haysi Funeral Home with Roy Lee Wilson, Jerry Vitatoe and Jerry Robinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Thomas Family Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Jerry Thomas, Mitchell Thomas, Bob Thomas, Keith Viers, Paul Mullins, Randy Blevins, Mike Coleman, Johnny Coleman and Tom Yates.
The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home where a song service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.
