Sarita Jane Encineas of Long Beach passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Keck Hospital of USC on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Sarita, also fondly known as Sarah, was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 1, 1946, to Rumaldo De Los Santos Sr.III of Rosebud, Texas and Maria Carmen Pacias of Albuquerque. New Mexico.
Sarita began flamenco dancing in New Mexico at a very young age and appeared in print ads for the state, before moving with her family to Los Angeles. She attended Dominguez High School in Compton where she participated in basketball, archery, and yearbook. She met her high school sweetheart, Rudolph Encineas, at Dominguez High School. As a young adult, she danced at dinner clubs with Johnny Mathis as part of the Juan Talavera Dance Troupe. She also appeared in western movies with John Wayne as a background dancer. Later she left the glamour and glitz of Hollywood to follow and wed her high school sweetheart, Rudolph Encineas, who was fulfilling a military commitment with the U.S. Army in Alabama. They wed in 1966 in Huntsville, Alabama.
Her career in the business workforce began during the Vietnam War era, stemming from her employment with Southern Bell in Alabama. After her return to California, she joined the banking industry and worked her way up from teller to escrow officer, eventually earning the title of Vice President of Mercury Savings and Loan. Wanting to further her career, she obtained her real estate license and thus began her career as a realtor. She proudly served over 40 years in the real estate industry.
Sarita found joy in dance, quilting, calligraphy, leaded stain glass artwork, tole painting, studying American and Egyptian history, and attending musical theater performances. She loved her family deeply and showed her care and concern often through her loving gestures and by hosting dinners and holiday gatherings. She greatly appreciated God's creation of the hummingbird.
Sarita now joins her parents in eternal peace. She is survived by her husband, Rudolph Encineas; her son, Benjamin Encineas; her daughter Jacqueline Cardenas; her granddaughters, Angelina Encineas (23)and Liliana (Lily) Cardenas (11); and her grandson, Giovanni Cardenas (16).
