Jennifer Jean Frost, 85, of Southern Shores, NC died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at The Outer Banks Hospital. Born in Southern Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, on February 17, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Barraclough Frost and Basil Frost.

Jennifer was a graduate of Cape Town University, South Africa and Union Theological Seminary, New York. After arriving on the Outer Banks in 1973, she became involved in numerous business ventures and community causes. The development of Sanderling and Real Escapes bear witness to Jennifer’s ideals of protecting the environment.

Along with her support of the independence of the Town of Duck, Jennifer was a founding member of the Friends of Roanoke Island, Corolla Wild Horse Fund, The Coastal Humane Society, and Outer Banks Conservations, Inc. She also established WVOD, The Sound, which became the leading radio station on the Outer Banks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Jeffrey Frost. Jennifer is survived by her lifetime friend and business partner, Lilias Morrison of Southern Shores along with all of Corolla’s Wild Horses.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at the Manteo Cemetery with Rev. David Morris officiating. Jennifer will be interred with the remains of two of her beloved dachshunds, Cameo and Pepper. Immediately following there will be a reception at the Roanoke Island Inn.
