Rhonda Jean Porter, 62, died peacefully Sunday, April 27, 2014, at her home in Cape Coral. She was born Sept. 29, 1951, in Evanston, Ill., and was the daughter of George Pemberton, now deceased, and Rebecca Pemberton, who survives and resides in Cape Coral.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had a great appreciation for nature, art, literature and poetry. She was a great cook and baker. She was a longtime member of "The Girls Club" and a parishioner of the Cape Coral Community Church. Most of all she had a great zest for life and a charitable heart. She worked for Target for 20 years, most recently at the Cape Coral Target store on Veterans Parkway.

She is survived by three children, Sarenia Frick of Cape Coral, Angeleek Pepitone of Cape Coral and Quentin Duke of Gainesville; a brother, Alan Pemberton of Illinois; her step-children, Patty South, Joseph Skubak, Michael Skubak, Mitchell Skubak, Kimberly Skubak, Scott Porter, Kelly Summerfield and Carey Poreter; as well as many, many beloved grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 1, at Cape Coral Community Church, 811 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral, with Pastor David Rigby officiating.

Memorial contributions in memory of Rhonda J. Porter are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
