David Richards Jones was the first child of Isaac and Margaret Richards Jones, born in Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, Wales. He learned the trade of a weaver, and worked at that trade while a young man. He married Elizabeth Evans, daughter of Thomas and Mary Jones (no relation) Evans on Feb. 22, 1851. To this union, two children were born while in Wales, twins, Hyrum David, and Charlotte Elizabeth. The family then joined
the LDS church, and came to the US in 1853, along with his father-in-law, Thomas Evans, and part of his family, arriving
in Salt Lake City, Oct. 10 of that year. They later moved to North Ogden, where two more children were born, Margaret Maria, and Mary Jane. In Nov., 1859, Elizabeth passed away,
leaving four small children. At the almost exact same time, the son of Thomas Evans, Henry Jones Evans, who had married a woman he had met while on the long journey form Wales to Utah,
Ada Morgan, was, according to family stories, none of which can be validated, killed in an Indian fight some where on Bear
River, leaving their two small boys, Henry and John. Almost
immediately, David Jones and Ada Morgan Evans, got married, and proceeded to produce three more children, David M, Harbert M, and Edwin M. In 1969, he moved his family, along with his father-in-law, John Morgan Morgan, and his family, to the Malad, ID, area, where he farmed until his death in 1910. He was elected to the Idaho Legislature twice, in 1881, and again in 1884. (See the newspaper {name unknown} for Malad City, Idaho, Thursday, April 14, 1910, for a further account of his life in Oneida County)
Four more children were born to David and Ada while in the Malad area, Morgan M, Isaac M, Alfred M, and Franklin M.
