Margaret B. "Peg" Hill

AGE: 91 • Toms River

Margaret B. "Peg" Hill passed away peacefully on June 23, 2012 after a brief illness. Peg was born on March 26, 1921 in Newark, NJ. She was the daughter of Stella and August Begerow who owned Begerow's Florist in Newark, NJ. She graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark, NJ and received her BA from Georgian Court University and her Masters Degree from New York University. She lived in Belmar and Lakewood before moving to the Green Island section of Toms River in 1965. Peg taught home economics at the Lakewood Middle School for 23 years retiring in 1979. She was active in the Lakewood Little League and Biddy Basketball League Auxiliaries. Peg was a member of the several professional teachers associations including the NEA, NJEA, LEA and Ocean County Education Association and the New Jersey Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Green Island Community Association. Peg was an active parishioner in St. Luke Roman Catholic Church in Toms River, NJ where she served as Lay Eucharistic Minister and coordinated the parish's Social Sunday Program. She was an active bowler with the Toms River Senior Bowling League, Ocean Lanes, Lakewood, NJ for many years. Peg loved playing bridge and enjoyed travel (especially cruising), the beach, NCAA basketball and sharing time with her family and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents and sisters, Stella Begerow and Jean Begerow and her brother Robert Begerow. She was also predeceased by her loving husband Maurice B. Hill, Sr. Peg is survived by her two sons, Dr. Maurice B. Hill, Jr and his wife Roseann, Toms River, NJ and Dr. Chris Hill and his wife Kathy, Salt Lake City, UT. She has 5 grandchildren, Shannon Reynolds and her husband Robert, Richmond, VA, Megan Poskay and her husband Robert, Toms River, NJ, Alyson Forsyth and her husband Ryan, Salt Lake City, UT, Ryan Hill-Husosky and her husband Drew, Freehold, NJ and Christopher Hill and his fiancée Darci Motoki, San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by her 8 great grandchildren, Alexander and Grayson Reynolds, Christopher, Alayna and Kaitlyn Poskay and Addie Rose, Lilly Marion and Jack Christopher Forsyth. Peg is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be private. A Memorial Mass celebrating Peg's life will be held at 10:30AM Wednesday at St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in the name of Margaret "Peg" Hill (GCU '43) to the scholarship fund at: Office of the President, Georgian Court University, 900 Lakewood Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701
