Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late James Woodrow and Abbie Green Starkey. Mr. Starkey was a member of First Presbyterian Church and President of Grace Trinity, Inc.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Jane Timmons Starkey; a son, Reverend Seth Timmons Starkey and daughter-in-law, Laura Lee Starkey; three grandchildren, Sam, Charlie, and Betsy Starkey; two sisters, Brenda (Chuck) Miller and Claudette (Bob) Thornton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was a steadfast husband, loving father, proud grandfather, protective brother, loyal friend, and an overall joy to be around. The family would like to thank the countless friends who have given of themselves to support us over the last year. Your kindness, prayers, and well wishes will be remembered. A special thanks to the staff at Pruitt Health Hospice for the care they lovingly provided Larry these past two months.
