1st Lieutenant Weston C. Lee was killed in Mosul, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated during a patrol outside Mosul.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 325th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Lieutenant Weston Graduated from the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega ROTC and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army in December of 2014. He was Airborne and Ranger qualified.

Lt. Lee was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, which is the name of the anti-Islamic State operation. He died on April 29 due to injuries sustained while conducting security as part of advise and assist support to partnered forces, according to DOD.

This was his first deployment. 1st. Lt. Lee's awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Ranger Tab, the Parachutist Badge, and the Army Service Ribbon. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, and the Meritorious Service Medal.

He died while serving his country. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. Date to be announced.

Weston was a brother of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, in the Georgia Delta Chapter at the University of North Georgia.

The most important thing that Weston Lee would want everyone to know is this: He was a devout Christian. He loved the Lord with all his heart and he loved his family and the girl he intended to marry. She's his sweetheart. Weston is at home in God's Heaven. You will see him again when you get there.
