Johnny Collins, age 81, formerly of Turkey, passed away, Friday, April 28, 2017. Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey. Arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home.

He was born on September 2, 1935, in Dierks, Arkansas, and buried in Turkey, Texas on May 3, 2017. After graduating from high school in Turkey, Texas in 1953, he spent 4 years in the Navy. He always said he joined the Navy to see the world, and never got too far from San Diego, California. He married Mary A. Denson in 1968 in Lubbock, Texas, and retired from the United States Department of Agriculture after 37 years.

He is survived by four children. Jenna Jordan, Columbia City, Indiana; Shelley Collins of Vancouver, Washington; Tracey Venable of Addison, Texas; Aaron Collins, Kyle, Texas. Four grandchildren, Taylor, Kirstin, Kacie and Evan and three great grandchildren, Landon, Knox and Maddox.

He missed the Bob Wills Celebration in Turkey, Texas this past weekend. It was always a fun filled weekend to visit and catch up with old friends, classmates, and family. But, he's catching up with family and friends now, smiling down from Heaven with a front row seat and listening to Bob Wills music.
